WIRE & GAS 'TEE UP FOR TRAINING' CONVENTION 2010

Friday - Monday, 11 - 14 June 2010

Plans are well advanced for the 2010 Wire & Gas Convention, to be held at the Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast over the June long weekend, 2010.  This is still the biggest convention for auto electricians, air conditioning and heat exchange technicians in the southern hemisphere.

The trade show is expected to attract more exhibitors than the 36 who showed their wares at the 2008 convention. The big draw card will be the on-vehicle training with many of Australia’s top trainers covering a/c, electrical and heat exchange. Because this is a famous golf resort, the sport is back on the agenda for those members who are escaping the cold of the southern states or New Zealand.  June on the Gold Coast is not your typical winter. Days a balmy and nights are cool. A full-on partners program is also back on the agenda, encouraging mid-winter holidays especially for a/c workshops. A range of incentives has been adopted.

Registration fees for VASA members will be $495 + gst per delegate. A second technician from the same workshops will cost only $295 + gst and there will be an allowance of one apprentice per full paying delegate, at a low rate of $95 plus gst.

VASA non-members will pay a premium of $50 + gst on these prices.  A fantastic room rate has been negotiated with Royal Pines and all delegates are encouraged to take advantage of these rates and stay on site because there is plenty to do at this great destination.

A marketing campaign will begin this June, 12 months out from convention, giving members and non-members plenty of time to organise budgets and travel plans. Full details of the program will be released as soon as it’s finalised. However, judging by the feedback from the past two or three conventions, the training sessions are the big attraction and the committee is going all out to ensure plenty of top trainers, better training layouts with seating for delegates at the individual sessions and more space between trainers so that everyone can be easily heard.  So much emphasis is being placed on the training that it has its own special slogan ‘Learn to Earn’.

And with the convention being tax deductable, delegates will start earning as soon as they check in.
